Durring my time here at wilders, it has often been said that FireFox has many advantages over Internet Explorer. I recently bought a magazine with a copy of Mozilla FreFox 1.0PR on the cover disk and want to give it a try.

However, before I do, I was wondering how easy it was to remove if I chose to go back to Internet Explorer for whatever reason and if I could just go back to useing IE witout any problems or having to make large changes. Please give me the information before questioning why I may want to go back.

If it is the case that all will be fine, is there a later of different version I may want to use?

Yes, go to the website and download, there is a later version. No problem if you want to uninstall FF, or keep both and use IE or FF, whatever you feel like using at the time.

:D Using it now, very simple installation and I can still use IE, event at the same time. Probably usefull as I am told Microsoft and some adult sites often use AxtiveX, a feature which I believe is not built into Firefox.

If you have just begun using Firefox and you have Spyblaster installed, you may want to update your Spyblaster settings to include Firefox.

As for settings, I turn off Java unless I am using it at a trusted site like games.yahoo.com. My own preference is to set cookies so it asks me everytime. It is annoying at times, but I prefer to know what sites are asking for what type of cookies. From time to time, I have to go into the Exception dialog box to remove cookies and thereby allow them on my system again.

Get the adblocker extension. Get Spellbound spell checker as well. Works well right here on Wilders.
    The possiblities are endless.

What about themes, do most people just use the standard theme?

I've had a few glitches with the FF themes from time to time.....like the screen might blink...or something annoying like that. I havent bothered to install any on this latest FF yet. But I do like that Noia one!

I'm a Pinball theme user. Take note of the version the theme is made for. There were some incompatibilities during the last few releases. Current themes are for current fox.

go tools>options>web features>uncheck allow sites to install software. you can still download something and install it yourself, it just stops sites from being able to do it too. and re-enable it manually if you need a site to install something.

If you prefer to leave javascript enabled, you can choose to disable all the Advanced JavaScript settings to prevent phishing. This is my default setting and I haven't had any problems. FF wil also display a yellow address bar when visiting secure sites.

I personally prefer the Qute 3 theme.

There are also some nice extensions:
ieview to view a page in IE
    fireFTP ftp client
    copy plain text
Tabbrowser Preferencesprovides excellent control over tabs
    adblock
    adblock Filterset.G

Go to a site that requires free registration. Use bugmenot, it will query the bugmenot site, come up with a account that has already being registered by a prior users, and fill it in for you.

You don't need to go thru the tedious process of registering

if you are somewhat paranoid, you can turn off other related functions.

Type about:config in the location bar.

search for dom.disable you might want to turn some of them to true.
