Wonderful! For those who want something that may not have (yet) passed QA. Obviously there's something wrong (with me) because I really don't see the fascination that several Wilders members, who don't want beta stuff, have for downloading programs before they're officially released.

Maybe its because of curiosity and inquisitiveness to try something new before everyone does :)

Per this: https://wiki.mozilla.org/RapidRelease/Calendar, the question regarding FF6 is should we even care? I mean, you can wait until Sept 27th for FF7...next month. Then they'll skip a month, go to 8, then 9 comes out the next month...I don't think Chrome is going that fast, lol.

Hmmm... I satisfy my "curiosity and inquisitiveness" by subscribing to the Aurora channel. For testers and more macho users, there are the builds, nightly and hourly. For less adventurous folks, there's the beta channel. With their "improved" procedure, betas will rarely see features being removed.

Testing out beta's, aurora's & nightlies, I don't *feel* any difference between v5 & v6, as the changes are mainly on the "feel" front, v7 nightlies however feel light & fluent.:D

EDIT: Oops, nightlies will become v8.

v8 feels light & fluent !:D (but that may very well be because it's quite naked, cause there are barely any add-ons ready for it.)

It doesn't make much sense to care about the version number, but presumably there are some new features/changes in 6.0 - it would be nice to know what they are. I liked the older paradigm better, where full number releases implied big changes, but whatever :)

They need to pass them and then they'll slow down.
But we all know number increase = quality.

Talking of Ubuntu, I just came across my old username and password for the Ubuntu forums and they still work. This is from 2008 and days of Gutsy Gibbon. But then I lapsed into the other OS. Now, quite content with the Mint fork.

In my opinion the best release they ever had.

As for Firefox 6 I will find myself waiting yet again for DownloadStudio and Sticky Password to catch up before I can upgrade. Especially Sticky Password, I could go a few days without DownloadStudio.

I guess now the version numbers don't matter for Firefox anymore. v6 is just an update for v5. Everyone will have to upgrade, as I am sure v5 will no longer be updated or supported. So, those who want to skip v6 and wait for v7 next month should keep the above in mind.

Are you sure about this? Have you tried every single Mozilla extension? Some aren't yet compatible with Fx 5.1 LOL! ;)

Yeah, I wouldn't quite say all, lol. Though the main players have been working with FF7 and 8 for a while now.
