I took my laptop drive and connected it to my desktop via a caddy and then created an image of the C: prtition which contains my Windows Xp install and all my apps etc. I then restored this image to a new faster hard drive but when I installed this in my laptop and power on, it gave me the error 'NTLOADER Not found'.
I'm new to this kind of thing. Any ideas what I did wrong? I have just installed everything from scratch but it would be handy to know for the next time.

You should create a backup of the whole disk not just the C: partition (even if there is only a C: partiotion on the disk) and then when it (the whole disk) is restored it will be bootable.
