I would be interested in advice/opinions on the most secure way to transmit a file (Up to 500 Mb). The transfer is generally between machines using a Windows operating system.

What would be the best and safest way to transmit the files? The will be encrypted but any strong opinions about the system to use for the encryption?

    Thanks,

    Bdiamond

You have to be a bit more specific:

Do you have a budget, or do you want a free solution?
Is it a one time event or is it a more frequent, automated process?
Do you plan to transfer via the internet?

    Have you considered using VPN's?
    Are you familiar with pgp?

If budget is no objection, try OpenFT (Note: this is NOT the GIFT Openft solution.
