Hi, I have noticed this a few times before. I use eset smart 4.2.71.2. yesterday i got a message saying modules had been updated. I broke my windows media player, so I did a restore from an image from last week. I have noticed that when this happens there is never a module update message just the signatures.
I was just curious how this works, I assume the modules do update with no notification maybe?

It would depend on your notifications settings. For example, if you had set to display only notification requiring user interaction you would not see the system tray notifications. This may not be your configuration just one possible example. You can also always check the event log in ESET for the update information that was logged. If the program modules have been updated you will see it there along with a time stamp of when it happened.

it's on default settings, nothing in event log. It's always done this on my system. Does program always check modules or do your servers think i have already had the module update?
    thanks for the reply

ESET Security products will check for the updates and apply those that are needed including updates to modules. if you are unsure whether or not you are up to date, you can see your currently installed modules by viewing your ESET system information . Do this by opening the ESET GUI and then going to Help>>About.
