Strange little happening for the past week or two. Running 7.1.4x Virtualbox on Mint 22 host. VM's are also Cinnamon 22 as well. When I save a snapshot and then later restore the VM from the snapshot the Desktop icons get bunched in the upper left corner of the screen almost always during start. If I simply stop the VM nomally and don't mess around with any snapshots it will continue to run without this hitch. I probably have around 20 icons on the Desktops and dragging them to their correct postition gets old fast. Hmmmm?? The machines, software, etc..... are all there perfectly as expected and it runs fast and smooth. Updates great, etc.... As far as I know I have not changed any settings I can think of. Any thoughts?
I MUST let the Linux/Unix experts address your particular issue, but i have a question. Are you running MINT 22 first release which i assume that you are. Reason being i have that same Linux with Cinnamon but only on a stick right now as i been waiting on the next revision with bug fixes before installing it to a laptop for conventional computing use. Thanks
Easter, Mint 22 is running great. I have had numerous updates since its release. Currently running 6.8.0-48 (the latest). This is why my question is here in Virtualization instead of the Linux forum. VirtualBox 7.1.4x is the new thing on my systems. I was posting to see if others here might have any similar experience as what I am getting. The actual machines, one of which I am using to make this post, run fast and smooth. The icons bunching is being mitigated by me selecting customize and using auto arrange by type on my Desktop. The order presented makes sense and is quite doable, just not how I would set it up if the arrangement would stay where I set it up. Make sense? ps - FYI, I am using Mint 22 on my daily production machine. It is safe and proven to me.
@Palancar, I have no experience with VirtualBox, nor with Linux Mint, nor Cinnamon. So I think I cannot say much about your issue. However, I can think of one thing that might be helpful: On Kubuntu (KDE Plasma), for desktop icons, there is the option "Locked". If that option is disabled, desktop icons may be moved after reboot or a new login. I guess there may be a similar option on Linux Mint Cinnamon, and I suppose you thought of that and checked that option. Nevertheless, I thought I'd mention that option "Locked" for desktop icons.
