This update performs diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program in order to determine whether compatibility issues may be encountered when the latest Windows operating system is installed. This update will help Microsoft and its partners ensure compatibility for customers who are seeking to install the latest Windows operating system.

    New day, new updates...
Installed all of them, no problems so far. I don't know why they didn't hold them until next patch Tuesday.

    Hi,
I got these 2 updates as well, BUT the 'more info' link just leads to a 'oops sorry page no longer exists', so what they are for is anybody's guess.
If MS don't want to supply the relevant info then they will not be installed. - Simple as.

I see so many such abnormalities going on that it becomes the new norm for Microsoft patches. I start to wonder, what kind of coders do MS hire these days? Incompetent is the word comes to my mind. A shame, truly.

I can think of a few choice adjectives for MS coders these days. Incompetent would be the most polite one.

Blame the platform, not the people. Microsoft hires some brilliant coders, but the NT code base is extremely Byzantine.

    Hmmm ...

'An aged Operating System is but a paltry thing,
A tattered coat upon a stick, unless
Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing
For every tatter in its mortal dress,
Nor is there singing school but studying
    Monuments of its own magnificence;
And therefore I have sailed the seas and come
To the holy city of Byzantium.'

With apologies to William Butler Yeats.

Microsoft seemed to have let their best coders go, it seems to me. ;)

Microsoft re-releases seven optional patches, including KB 3046480...
The patches appear to be innocuous and seem to mostly pave the way for Windows 10. Here's the list, along with the official descriptions:
