I just went to Windows Update and found that it has not yet been installed. I selected "Don't show this update again".

    More cleaning:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins\@microsoft.com/WPF,version=3.5

Do both the 'microsoft' references in about:config need to be reset ??

    More Reg entries other than:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins\@microsoft.com/WPF,version=3.5
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions
    as noted
    ??

I'm not entirely sure this is a major problem other than the undoubtably odious install method.

For those with need of.NET apps, removing this might be a problem ??

Any issue with just "Disable" in the short term and save this thread jic?

Since .NET is not upward nor downward compatible; versions are separate and distinct, it would seem that the best course of action is to simply not install this update until such time as the 3.5 SP1 version is required by some other program you wish to use that requires that specific version level.

AKAJohnDoe, I agree with you. Most of the software that I have seen, using the .NET framework, do so with version 2 as a minimum. I stopped with the installation of the 2.0 SP1 version and like TheKid7, I have selected Don't show this update again to versions 3.0 and 3.5, via Windows Update. Haven't had the need to install those yet.

Any idea how to remove the Windows Presentation Foundation add-on plug-in from Firefox?

UPDATE: I found the answer here.
