Re: Microsoft distributes Grisoft antivirus for Vista

this was released a bit back, but i didnt post it ... so well done there.

i found it while on google, avg and check the news part, it was the first result back.

so if people want news, i suggest they give that a try :)

it is interesting, that they would basically promote avg for their new OS when they have their own antivirus, strange dont you think?

I believe they are promoting other companies as well. I remember reading something about how Security Center will point to Symantec sites if you are using NAV and McAfee sites if you are using McAfee VirusScan :doubt:

Maybe it has something to do with the quality of their own antivirus.;)

The idea of distributing some more choices besides McAfee and Norton sounds like a positive development.

Nick, I'd recommend to READ AGAIN the original press release. The way you intererpreted it is simply incorrect, it just says that AVG is now listed on the "Compatible with Vista Security Center" page on MS website (and not that "MS distrubutes AVG")...

And if MSFT did distribute AVG, MSFT has a history of distributing watered down version from 3rd parties, e.g. defragger and backup.

The links are likely a result of the EU beating up on MSFT.

"Newark, UK – 6, November, 2006 — GRISOFT today announced that Microsoft is making AVG Anti-Virus 7.5 and AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition available via Windows Security Center as a Windows Vista security solution."

    i think ibk mis-read something.

Basically, this announcement is just a PR crap, aimed to mislead the users.

Where did IBK read/write anything here, btw?
