The repository shows Calculator's surprisingly long history. Although it is in some regards one of the most modern Windows applications—it's an early adopter of Fluent Design and has been used to showcase a number of design elements—core parts of the codebase date all the way back to 1995.

Because allowing developers to contribute to the project really pays off, as the GitHub project has received tons of feature suggestions, including several that could make the Calculator one of the most advanced of its kind.

As spotted by HTNovo, one of the enhancements proposed for Calculator is a graphing mode, which could significantly improve the way the app handles mathematics.
The GitHub post also indicates that a Graphing Calculator is a top feature request in the Feedback Hub
Feature still in development
The suggestion calls for support for all US common core math curriculum and a baseline graphic calculator experience in the app. The Windows Calculator should be able to build and interpret functions, understand linear, quadratic, and exponential models, and work with trigonometric functions.

Of course, it could take a while until the feature becomes part of the Windows 10 Calculator, but for the time being, open-sourcing the project on GitHub appears to be a clever way to overhaul the app.

Doesn't that offer some insight into how very technically advanced they are?
Quite a place that they've carved out of the wilderness.

But it turns out that people are indeed tinkering with the code and today we see the fruits of all that labour, in the form of a port of the app for Android, iOS and web.
A group called Uno Platform took on the challenge to achieve what would be impossible for lesser coders.

Uno Platform has done more than just convert the app, its actually been forked in a separate Github page, which should make it easy to see the techniques involved, (like converting XAML and linking the C++ code to the C code) and hopefully apply what they've learned to your own projects. There's also a detailed blog post that takes you through the entire development process.
