Even though the on-premise Active Directory server supports passwords longer than 16 characters, Azure AD had a 16-character password limit. Based on the customer feedback, Microsoft yesterday announced that they will finally support more than 16-character password for cloud user accounts in Azure AD.

With this support, Azure AD users will be able to set a password with up to 256 characters. And yes, spaces are now supported in password.

Microsoft continues its push away from passwords with FIDO2 support for Azure AD

Microsoft has called for the end of passwords more than once in the past, and it's been making efforts to do away with them for quite some time now. Today, the company is taking one more step in that direction with the announcement of support for FIDO2 security keys in Azure Active Directory. FIDO2 security keys join the other methods os password-less authentication supported by Azure AD, including Windows Hello and the Microsoft Authenticator app.
