microsoft data access componants

    microsoft data access componants has been installed on my OS...........do i need it.....i have a stand alone Home XP :doubt:
    Unless it is needed i would like to remove it...

    AFAIK it has been integrated with windows since Windows 2000. It provides access to MS data implementations such as SQL Server or Access (and possibly foxpro) and there are many programs that rely on it.

    Don't know if you can remove it (at least not in W2K). As long you as keep it updated (security vulnerability +/- once in a year) I don't see anything wrong keeping it on your system.
