Now that MPC-HC includes the LAV filters by default, it can be seen as a standalone solution for video playback, much like VLC.

 

Does it read ISOs?

 

I don't believe it does.

 

It doesn't have madVR though.

 

I don´t really know what madVR is, but it´s included in the K-Lite Standard codec pack, which also includes MPC-HC. I have used this pack for years and years, never downloaded MPC independently. The only problem is ... it´s updated too frequently.

 

Quite right, this will not however stop you from watching videos

 

It doesn't, I just checked,
it can't be my only player then,
I still need VLC around

It's my default player though,
after much testing and trying,
very light, customizable enough
