If it means anything-for comparison sakes the unit running with the latest Windows 10 update-You guys read where I mostly have used it for video viewing-well I reinstalled the whole shooting match again today and the TV & Video Player is horrific. That may or may not be a byproduct of low memory capacity, however after not being able to comfortably watch one of those fav classics called Emergency! in MP4 format with Windows 10 TV & Video, it's reassuring they play absolutely flawless, look clear and crisp on this Home Cinema program.

It's always the small things Microsoft developers never seem to master, like this for one, and icons they have never gotten to draw them instantaneous but you always must wait for them to cascade their slow walk no matter what folder is used. Perhaps this is where a high end video card comes into play to better assist them in graphics display etc.

Love this player and VLC! Works perfect in Windows 10

I don't get why they make a portable version while the original author has one already. Moreover I've seen PortableApps.com making other portables when the original authors already release one to their programs.

Mr.X, perhaps this will explain the PortableApps philosophy: https://portableapps.com/about/what_is_a_portable_app

For me, these 3 guidelines are paramount:

Thanks for pointing me to that page, never read before.

These lines have drawn my attention:
If PortableApps.com comply with those points above always without exception then that's such a great thing!
See, I've seen some original portable apps to keep writing to C:\Users\[username]\AppData regardless they claim as portable.
So those three points make sense to me.

Not to mention, that PortableApps can auto-update their apps. I never liked CCleaner because of it, I had to copy/paste it. I wish all portable apps were made by PortableApps.

Mr.X, you're welcome! Keep in mind that the usage of the PortableApps Platform, together with the .paf format, is the key here. Their Forum is where portable version's guidelines non-compliance is reported right away. In all the years of using their platform, and apps, I've seen very few instances of a portable app not complying, yet it's taken care of as soon as possible. That's why all my PCs use their platform; don't want to muck up the Registry, in particular.

Recently I mostly use strictly the vendor's own Portable but in all the years of Windows versions I always used the PAF format/app to install it's portables without a single issue. They do stay on top of matters. And it is really nice having some programs with as little footprint as possible. which on this end with spindle HDD's helps with performance and less cleanup after run sessions. :)

I'm sure I missed it but why is the latest stable version listed as 1.7.13 64-bit on mpc-hc dot org?

It's a grueling slow D/L on this end from git but thanks for the announcement of this updated version.

That is the last 'official' release. Since then, clsid has been good enough to take over development/maintenance of the project.

So why doesn't https://mpc-hc.org/ list or link to these newer versions? I mean for continuity sake.

Doesn't the original author want to give access to clsid to mpc-hc dot org site? Or something else?

And 1.7.13 64-bit runs perfect for me on W7P64. Is there any reason for me to update other than to just update?

I'm wary that the newer versions are not quite perfect otherwise they'd be on or mentioned on mpc-hc dot org.
