Do you really think mood should post MPC-BE nightly builds in this thread?
There is or was a MPC-BE nightly about every couple of days, as reported by VideoHelp.com, Codecs.com and Softpedia.
I don't see the benefit of reporting MPC-BE nightly builds in this Wilders thread.

    I know.
Well, I spend my online time mostly at Wilders so I can see the benefit number 1: Less clicks. :D

Posting of nightly releases from for example: Free-Codecs would be "too much" (several builds a week...) :cautious:

I surely can imagine that would be 'too much'.
That is why I asked Mister X, do you really think mood should post MPC-BE nightly builds in this thread.
I suppose Mister X will need to do a few more clicks, to visit VideoHelp.com, (Free-)Codecs.com, or Softpedia for the nightly releases. ;)

Got to admit-others might be more acceptable, maybe even more compatible or better than some, but this is by far a personal choice in this camp. Like the way you can dock the Playlist right under the video screen. Was getting some drag and slowdown after several shows running concurrently (perhaps a memory leak) but all in all it's been a super useful addition and best of all FREE!!

I currently use SMPlayer. What are the advantages of using MPC-BE over SMPlayer or even MPC-HC?

I tried SMPlayer before, and it wasn't able to play DVD with certain copy protection correctly (the Wall-E DVD is one example). (The same applies to VLC media player.)
MPC-BE plays DVD with such 'difficult' copy protection with no problems. (The same applies to MPC-HC, and also Windows Media Player on Windows 7.)
Regarding MPC-BE and MPC-HC, I like the fact that MPC-BE is still supported, where MPC-HC's development is stopped and MPC-HC only gets 'unofficial' updates.

Do you know if MPC-BE can play commercial Blu-Ray movies?

That may be (MPC-HC's current development stage off) but I found it has the better Playlist docking compared to MPC-BE. For some reason MPC-BE's docking of the Playlist won't snap under the video play box and in fact obscures the Video if you try watch with it engaged.

MPC-HC nicely snaps and locks the playlist tightly under the Video Playing and is easily accessible for a user to simply click on any selection (as well as smoothly scroll) to switch over to a different Video.

BOTH-However do a bang up job with Video Clarity of all sorts of video files no matter the extension, MKV, AVI, DVD, MP4 etc. :)

I'm sorry, I don't know. I never bought any Blu-Ray movies, still only DVD and DVD players here.
