So today after updating my Avira account info on their user forum, I received a subscription expired email (allegedly) from McAfee urging me to renew. It could be just coincidence. But I am skeptical, especially since I haven't used McAfee in over 3 yrs on Android.

I flagged the email as SPAM!

I've been getting these 'alerts' saying they're from McAfee for at least a couple of months. I just ignore them. How can my subscription to McAfee be expired when I've never used McAfee, and never had it on this computer?

I was quite surprised myself to be hearing about a renewal 3 yrs after the fact. And the 'return to' email address was not McAfee.

I've only ever had a phishing email once. It was in an account I'd virtually abandoned. Luckily I realised what it was. Many do get fooled though.

Fortunately, my employer requires staff to take a cybersecurity class annually.

    Sounds like a good idea.
