McAfee Question

    Does McAfee VirusScan work with other Antivirus products? o_O

    I have used mcafee with several other av's as backup and I even used mcafee as backup to Nod. It is fairly forgiving as long as one of them is set as on demand only.

    bigc does mcafee use heuristics? If they do are there heuristics good?

    they do use hueristics and they are pretty darn good.

    A correction to BigC's post.

    McAfee uses heuristics as well as generic signatures (signatures that detect many variants of existing malware with just one signature). The heuristics are not so good, but the generic signatures are very good. :)

    For example, McAfee caught the latest Bagle outbreak without updates using the generic signature for the Bagle family of malware.

    Thats good also that there generic signature is really good. I didnt even know they used them :eek: thanks :D

    When I was having so much trouble with McAfee I was asked by the techie do I have another antivirus program currently on my computer. I did, it was Trend penicillan (sp). I was told to delete it because I couldn't use 2 antivirus programs, it would mess things up.
