McAfee usually has emergency definitions files that you can request. I believe they are usually called extra.dat? Or something a long those lines. I don't quite understand what point they have, besides needing to detect something that isn't in the weekly definitions, without using the beta definitions.

They are for threats that are not covered by the regular DAT, but will be fixed in the next DAT, a prime example is the email I received to day from AVERT:

Thanks, I'll pass that on to our IT guy. What do the patches do anyway ? I'm a KAV person myself.

    Patch 10 -
    Resolved Issues here; http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=40789&sid=115c1ee35fb043c0e8a8fdce19b6ce3a

If you have applied any/all of the previous patches/fixes already, you should not need to apply this one. Those Home users who have not applied any patches as yet would benefit from this single download.

This cumultative Patch is probably for the benefit of Servers and may now mean that this version has now settled down. Version 9.0 Enterprise on the way ?

Personally, I think it would jump to 8.x before 9.0
