We all know that Spyware Doctor is bloated and a resource hog. Im looking for unbiased documented proof of SDs issues as being bloated, resource hungry, and scare ware.

Im also looking for unbiased documented proof of MBAM, Spysweeper, and Super Anti Spywares detection rate and other important information.

To bad there isnt an antispyware version of AV Comparatives or better.

Any help in finding the info here would be greatly appreciated.

WhiteDragon, have you gotten any further in your search? Would appreciate a recap if yes. My SpySweeper subscription is coming up for renewal and it "feels" like it makes my system sluggish. That being said, I do appreciate when clicking on some links that it warns me about the site.

I have not. I havent been able to find any testing posted around online by reputable sources. However there is nothing but good praise for SAS and MBAM fixing alot of issues.

When I was trying to determine for myself which AS was "best", being unable to locate any significant tests, I decided to search as many spyware/malware removal forums as I could find, and tally up how many used which program as part of their cleanup toolkit. As I recall, the findings were heavily weighted in MBAM's favor. My conclusion was, if the "pros" turn to MBAM, then why not me, and all my friends, family and the people I help? :)

IMHO Spysweeper had it's time and it's time to go!! Today as Page42 said what does the Professional Malware Hunters use - MBAM! Also SUPERAnti-Spyware Free or Paid it's up to you? Another one would be Prevx 3.0 Free as Detection only but it does clean some you will have to pay for most malware removals.

And SD never used it and I suspect that I never will! And I know it's not mentioned but A-Squared Free has a very good detection rate but you got to watch the FP's!

Let's keep in mind that MBAM is supposed to be a supplement to an AV.

    I wouldn't recommend MBAM-only.

well i like to add my cents if it is bad opinion sorry;) , just you said whitedragon, download spydoc application, install and enable real time module along with other security application you have in your pc, and then you can see the resource usage of spydoc program,;) becoz i used it myself with zis suite 7 in win xp, ram usage will be 1gb:eek: my total ram 1.5gb. after i tried in vista with same zis suite v8 same result resource usage is same as 1.5gb:eek: when browsing it will shot to 2gb:eek: my total ram is 3gb. so i had bad time with it.:p so better test it by yourself in your machine and look how it works in your machine. and lastly do not ask for proof for working and detection.;) because personal experience is better than anything.:D ;)

Page and KMR are on the right track. See what the pros use and then try it on your machine. An App that works great on one machine may not hardly run on another.

I literally just got done cleaning out a friend's computer absolutely hosed with trojans and spyware. The AV I installed didn't remove all the stuff, only MBAM was able to totally clean it out. This is the third time on different people's computers this has happened.
I understand that is not proof, but in the absence of testing, it's good enough for me. I am totally sold on MBAM.

SAS seems to be overrated ... Dec 2009 is out-dated - OK :doubt:

It is in the PC world. Not to mention there is no test date on that websites tests or data. Id hardly call it a reliable source.

There are more robust alternatives available. Once in a while I will run SAS after I've cleaned a hosed system and it will only find a few tracking cookies. I'm not suggesting that the program is trash; it's just that I no longer find it a necessity.

What more robust alternatives? Obviously if youve used MBAM or something similar SAS isnt going to find anything.

Sometimes SAS finds stuff after MBAM depending on the type of the infection.

Yes. Nothing is 100% at detection yet. Im wondering what more robust programs EliteKiller is talking about. Something more robust over MBAM, Spysweeper, SD, and SAS.

Hitman Pro, MBAM, Combofix, HJT, Root Repeal, CureIt, F-Secure/Eset/Bitdefender Online scanners. Of course manually looking at the System32, System32\Drivers, hosts, and task scheduler for problems is also advisable.

F-Secure and Eset are not spyware scanners. Bitdefender is low on the AV totem pole as it is. Combofix has been discontinued and can only be used if you install Comodo Internet Security which also isnt a very good scanner over Avira and Eset which are AV scanners. HJT has also been discontinued and doesnt scan for malware either. MBAM is already included in this thread. Only valid thing youve posted is Hitman Pro which is also another AV with some trojan scanners tossed in.
