    Hello,

    Hope that someone can help me here. Inadvertintly I have dl some spyware that neither adaware or spybot has detected. It is effecting internet explorer and has added a toolbar so i know that it is there. When you right click its called mapi admin, and it cannot be found in any search on the computer. Adaware got rid of a keylogger which may or may not have been associated. This spyware crsahes IE after about 30 seconds and also makes the screen fliker constantly. Has anyone seen this and know how to get rid of it. It must be an advanced form of spyware?

    Help!

    Thanks

    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,

    Can you follow the directions posted here:
    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15913
    You can skip step 1 since AdAWare and Spybot don't recognize it.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi Stuart,

    Before you start please unzip hijackthis.exe to a folder of it´s own. The program creates backups in the folder it is in. In a Temp folder they easily disappear.

    Check the following items in HijackThis.
    Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://zw.com.tw:3128@DF809JOW4WJ2304LFD0SF9FSD0A2T4LDF809JOW4WJ2304LFD0SF9FSD0A2T4LD.BIZ/search.htm (obfuscated)

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {91BD0CFF-A40D-5DEC-DBDD-95A47FC79896} - C:\PROGRA~1\WAITFA~1\Hole Phone.dll

    O3 - Toolbar: Mapi Admin - {AE12B3F7-9962-372E-71B6-3E0E18790AA9} - C:\PROGRA~1\WAITFA~1\Hole Phone.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [64 grey] C:\PROGRA~1\GLUECO~1\16blue.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoUpdater] "C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe"

    O9 - Extra button: SEARCH (HKLM)
    O9 - Extra button: ENTERTAINMENT (HKLM)
    O9 - Extra button: PILLS (HKLM)
    O9 - Extra button: SECURITY (HKLM)
    O9 - Extra button: SEARCH (HKLM)

    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/3122a7e5e1cb8b4b6306/netzip/RdxIE601.cab

    Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\GLUECO~1 <= the entire folder that holds 16blue.exe
    C:\Program Files\WAITFA~1 <= the entire folder that holds Hole Phone.dll
    C:\Program Files\C2Media <= entire folder, if present

    Regards,

    Pieter

    PS There is a easy way out: uninstall MessengerPlus in Add/Remove Software

    Hi Peiter,

    Thanks for your help.

    Messengerplus has been deleted already in add/delete programs. What are the things you want me to check and what are the things that get deleted. I dont know as much as you guys. Are they some kind of trojans or spyware?

    Hi Stuart,

    Two I am not sure about since I do not know them:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [64 grey] C:\PROGRA~1\GLUECO~1\16blue.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Will Power] C:\Program Files\e-Clips\WillPower\WillPower.exe

    They look OK and all the files related to your unwanted bar are gone.

    Regards,

    Pieter
