Cheers ! enjoy the software. The auto update notification is pretty slick.

Not a lot in the way of changes.
Thanks for the heads up, though.

No notification received here yet, despite having the option selected.
In fact, I don't think I've ever been notified of an available update.

Page, I may be wrong, but my understanding is that MBAM won't notify until the program update has been downloaded, with the first option checked...that is, that it won't notify of an update available to be downloaded. I've got first option checked also, and it notified. :)

    Hi Dermot7,
So basically, if the option you mention is selected, the program downloads and installs the update, then notifies you that it did so?
That has me scratching my head. :D

No, it downloads the update and asks you if you want it first. :)

Well naturally that would make the most sense, but that's not what the option says (see image above). It says, "Download and install program update if available."

Edit in: The more I read those two options, the more I can see how they are intended to work together. In other words, the 2nd choice, when selected by itself, does absolutely nothing. ;)

Yes, it's not worded very well. But it won't install automatically if you have the second option checked, and will notify first.
Think Malwarebytes need to change this, and if possible notify of a program update before you download, even if you have it set to auto-update definitions regardless.

That seems correct...it's meaningless on its own apparently?

Glad we got that ironed out. ;)
I think I'll go check both options on my computers and wait for the notifications.
    Thanks for the help, Dermot7.

That didn't take long. Notifications (balloon pop ups near the systray) appeared on the two computers that are presently turned on. But they disappeared after about 15 seconds without me clicking them, so now I wonder if they will continue to appear periodically. I bet they will (perhaps hourly?), until I select them or otherwise update the program.

The software should be set as per screenshot in order to get a prompt when updating to allow alerts to install any new builds.

Yep, the notification balloon popped up one hour later.
This time I clicked it and updated.
Always strange to me how the database is 4-5 days old and needs to be updated on the program update.
I will keep both options checked from now on, because I do enjoy being notified of available program updates.
Thanks to siljaline for mentioning it. :)

You're most welcome. It is odd that your database is showing as old after having updated. You might ask at the MBAM board as to why this is as I would want to know.

    Regards,

It did it on two computers tonight, one XP and one W7. I strongly suspect that when I fire up my other machine (also W7) that the same behavior will occur. This out-of-date database has been the case each and every time I have updated the MBAM program for as long as I can remember... and in case someone wants to know how good my memory is... I'd say it's been this way for at least 3-4 years or longer. ;)
I'm curious too, which is why I noted, "Always strange to me how the database is 4-5 days old and needs to be updated on the program update."
    Cheers.

As suspected, I just updated on another W7 machine moments ago and I got the same "database is 5 days out of date" message. It happens every time.
