I've installed it on my lowest end laptop.

    • Scanning still uses 100% CPU.
    • Scan schedule is still in US format = mm/dd/yyyy.
    • Still shows warning when Exploit Protection is disabled.
    • It still slows browsers opening.
    • As reported in the change log, there is still a huge issue with Macrium Reflect.
    Your mileage may differ.

    Edit:
    • After first restart the tray icon went MIA.
Edit 2: After second restart the tray icon showed up.

On the plus side, no warning that enabled components were disabled. To satisfy MB I've enabled Exploit Protection but disabled each individual program.

    Machine Two:

After first restart Malware Protection was disabled and would not enable.

This is still a beta product.

I have reported the above already. Still not fixed in this release.

Hmmm, will try it tomorrow but not happy the fix log only says "on initial startup". I kept getting the notification over and over again, long after the initial startup.

It is also not reassuring that I get a notice from their own download link that says,

I was excited when I saw there was new release, until I read the changelog and saw no mention of CPU use when scanning. I won't be installing MBAM again just yet.

Yes, that is disappointing but it does scan fairly quick so if you walk away for 5 minutes or so, maybe make a cup of tea or coffee...

    @roger_m :
I like software, that uses the cpu power of my office machine, and my hobby shack machine.
Otherwise my cpu is idle, most of the time...

It's an issue if I run scans when I'm using my computer. Anyway, I have changed my mind and decided to try this new release.

I installed the new release and started a scan. RAM usage is still excessive during scans. When I paused the scan, MBAM was constantly using 16% CPU time, even though had I ended the free trial, so that there is no realtime protection running. When I cancelled the scan, CPU dropped to 0.

    Machine 3:

No real drama installing though from past experience uninstalling MBAM 2 first gives much better results.

On first booting MB tray icon shows a exclamation point for a few seconds but thankfully no big warning pop-up saying I'm unprotected.

Now every time I open Edge I see a new crash in Reliability History, even after disabling Exploit Protection.

    Edit: Nope, stuff this!

Disabled Exploit Protection, restarted and that looked like it resolved the crashes with Edge but then the giant warning pop-ups returned.

Thankfully I was smart enough to image my machines before installing MB 3.0.6.

Maybe this has been posted but if you leave the MBAM window maximized during a scan it uses more ram. The reasoning is that they are assuming that the person running the scan is watching thus they try to accomplish the scan a bit quicker. Minimizing the MBAM window should result in less ram being used.

Also, why is MBAM getting hammered so hard here, HMPA seems to be a lot more buggier and its not getting slammed as much? Seems like MBAM is buggy for awhile after a new release, however, seems like HPMA has been buggy since release, maybe not as many bugs as MBAM but almost continual. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

HMP.A is not buggy on my machines at all, unlike your MB.

If I have to choose between MBAM and HMP.A I will choose Alert every time. I keep asking myself why I have MBAM 2 starting with Windows at all!

    To put it another way:

My machines are rock solid and stable until I add MB 3.0.

I'll do another scan, and see if it uses less RAM.
I only use HMP as an on demand scanner. When I was using its protection features, it was causing issues with some software. In my case, it was not due to bugs, but I would have had to configure it to work with some software, and I didn't want to. MBAM can be really buggy even when used solely as an on demand scanner.

Yeah, but once they pull it which is early this year, there probably won't be any further updates/

The one notable issue that was not able to be included in this release was problem with imaging programs (such as Macrium Reflect) where large artifact files are left System Volume Information file if a backup is created with anti-ransomware protection enabled. That one should be coming soon after this release!

I think I'll wait for the next one then.

Quickly, though OT, I have been using HMPA beta builds on my main machine for a couple of years now, and latest build 579 beta is the first to cause problems . MBAM 3 is no longer beta - but should still be.
