Maybe I haven't found the setting. But after I close MBAM free the icon stays in the notification area of the taskbar. How can I stop that?

Also MBAM uninstalls their anti-exploit. Had to reinstall.

As far as I'm aware you can't. You have to right click the tray icon and exit. There is a setting to not start with Windows but I'm not sure if that is available on the free version.

Says Beta in URL. I stick to Finals only.

I want that icon gone without an extra action. Also the option to not uninstall Anti-Exploit.

That is a link in the MB 3.0 beta thread here but 3.0.6 is Release Preview, so not really beta, more like RC.

the paid version of 3.0 uninstalls the old anti-exploit and install their new one as all in one program. not sure what the free version does.

EDIT: this is what happens after the 14 day trial. https://www.malwarebytes.com/trial/#trial

i uninstalled mbam2 and installed latest mbam3 free on demand on a 32bit vista machine.indeed, the tray icon stays in the system tray after closing out mbam. any reason for this/is it doing anything? task manager shows mbam tray exe 1500k. this thread stopped without any info on why. thanks

The tray application is a separate process. That's why it needs to be exited / closed separately.

krusty, thanks for your help. after right click, exit, both mbam services shut down, cpu settled down and machine seemed to run better. what is the purpose of all this. i don't mind having to do this but i put mbam on all my friends machines that arn't tech inclined and i'm sure they will see this as an inconvenience.

I don't know. You would have to ask the MB developers.

roflmao, maybe, because I have premium and it does not "hang" or stick around when I close it.
I can see the headline now "MBAM Free Refuses To Close Till Purchased On Windows 10" lol
