   I have read a few threads on the site. I have come to an understanding that nod32 will also detect malware / spyware. Is this a correct understanding?

   Not necessarry all the malware but yes for most notorious trojans and spyware. Just check the latest additions to the NOD32 databases on their site to get some real picture....
