Windows XP user, reporting a major bug. I have been fighting and fighting, reading USB forums all over. What happened, is I could not install any USB Mass Storage devices (hard drives). They would start to install, but then after a few clicks here and there the PC froze. It would NEVER let me shut down even if It tired immediately. I had to power down to shut down (as I was scared to corrupt files). I went to safe mode, I could unplug and plug in all I wanted and the USB drives worked perfectly. Just to make things clear, all other USB devices worked perfectly, such as Keyboards, mice, web cameras, printers, etc. So finally after reading all USB resorts on the web, I just decided myself to uninstall ESet Smart Security. Things are perfect now. On a side note, to the developers. If I plugged the USB drives in SADE mode, like I said they work. If I LEFT them plugged in, then booted into regular mode, they remained working. So long as I did not plug any more in and unplug and replace one. Now in the meantime I have to find another AV solution, or I just may resort back to ESS 3 where I never had any problems. I hope to hear of a solution. I will answer any and all reports or data you may need to solve the problem. Thank you.
