I have prepared a winPE disk for Macrium Reflect free edition using waik.iso on my Win7 VM. Can any one tell me what are licencing issues attached to it. The CD has an option to image and restore offline( cold image n restore). Obviously I can use it ON ANY pc? Is it OK as far as WinPE licencing is concerned?

    Thanks

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that you can only use a WinPE disc on a system running a licensed copy of the same version of windows. So,for example, you could use a WinPE v3 disc on any licensed Win7 system. That's my understanding anyway.

I use a WinPE 4.0 (based on Windows 8 ) in a Windows 7 x64 installation. It has two advantages: it loads faster and has drivers for USB 3.0, no need to add them separately.

Just curious. What is the origin of this file? There are many such downloads available.. It is not against the policies of this forum to post these links?

I was referring to a WinPE 4.0 that I built with Paragon´s Boot Media Builder using WADK, and which I am now using regularly in Windows 7 x64.

There is a new tool from Paragon to build WinPEs using WinRE (no WAIK, no WADK). If used from Windows 8, it should create a 64-bit WinPE 4 with the installed Paragon product.

    See https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=341482.

The origin is from the windows 7 forum.Im using it and it works perfectly.
No need to download ridiculous amounts of data to image and restore.
There is no way on earth i will download 1.7gb of data when this cd does it with only a 154mb download.
    Regards.
