As you can see by the title I cannot receive support from Macrium. Here is the email reply I received from them: Thank you for getting in touch. While we believe it’s important every person has the ability to protect their data, we simply don’t have the resources to support the millions of Reflect Free users around the world. Unfortunately, Macrium is unable to provide support to our free users. Here are a few options that may help. Here is the message I sent to them earlier today: Today I ran Macrium Reflect to create an image. After running this image I was checking my C drive and noticed files I had not seen before today and I regularly watch my C drive. I also ran an image yesterday, 20 June. I classify these files as unknown but one file is telling, the Reflect_Install.log as it indicates throughout instances of Macrium thus why I am asking Macrium support about these files. Should I delete these files or move them to a different location? I run my images the same as I always do so this is very perplexing why these files suddenly show on my C drive. Today for the first time I verified the image. Perhaps this was the cause for these files to be placed on my C drive. As I am unable to attach the image showing my C drive here then is a list of those files: 24 files are dated 11/7/2007, the other files show their dates following the file name, otherwise the remaining are dated 11/7/2007: eula.1028.txt eula.1031.txt eula.1033.txt eula.1036.txt eula.1040.txt eula.1041.txt eula.1042.txt eula.2052.txt eula.3082.txt globdata.ini hiberfil.sys install.exe install.ini install.res.1028.dll install.res.1031.dll install.res.1033.dll install.res.1036.dll install.res.1040.dll install.res.1041.dll install.res.1042.dll install.res.2052.dll install.res.3082.dll msdia80.dll: dated 12/1/2006 msdt_regkey_backup.reg: dated 6/2/2022 pagefile.sys Reflect_Install.log: dated 4/2/2022 swapfile.sys VC_RED.cab VC_RED.MSI vcredist.bmp
most of those files pertain to an old Visual C++ library installer which was poorly written so it didn't clear the temp files after the installation was done. Probably some old program you installed that needs those old Visual C++ libraries. pagefile.sys (virtual memory)/ swapfile.sys are system files and should not be touched hiberfil.sys is the file used for hibernating the system (which is when the system shuts down completely but saves the current state like what programs are open so when you start your computer again, everything is opened as if you didn't even shutdown. The EULA text files are also part of the old/buggy Visual C++ library installer. This issue has nothing to do with Macrium Reflect you probably just never noticed they were there before taking the image.
So I should just leave these files alone? I do remember yesterday needing to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable and also did a Windows update yesterday which is perhaps why these ended up on my C drive. As i said before I did not notice these files prior to June 20. Do you think it possible that at some point in a future Windows update these may disappear?
The reason they are there is the old Visual C installer which places the in the root of C and never gets rid of them IF you delete them, you will have invalid registry entries so, delete them then install the latest Visual C libraries, that should get everything sorted: Download = https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/visual_c_redistributable_runtimes_aio_repack.html Do not forget to right-click on the file you just downloaded, go to Properties, then check the unblock button at the bottom if it says it was blocked because it came from the internet. If you don't do this, it will lead to erroneous installation as the installer wouldn't have the proper privileges.
