I moved my Chrome profile (C:\{username}\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data) to an external hard drive and created a junction link (mklink /J) to the new target location on J: drive. Does anyone know if Macrium Reflect will backup the Chrome files on J: if I only backup C:? In other words, will it recognize the junction link and backup the files on the target drive?

Never mind. It was a good idea but some of my extensions quit working right and that's not something I want to deal with right now, so I deleted the junction and put things back like they were. At least I know how to do it now.

I know you changed your mind but just in case if you decide to do this in future.

Junction links are just a type of reparse point, and are implemented through reparse points. Macrium has an option under "Backup defaults -> Reparse Points" to allow user to choose whether to follow system created or user created reparse points. By default Macrium only follows user created reparse points.

Thanks, good to know. I'm using the free version and it doesn't have a "Reparse Points" option in Backup Defaults so I assume that's only in the paid version. When you say Macrium only follows user created reparse points by default, do you mean the free version or the paid version? In other words, will the free version follow reparse points created by a user in the free version, or is that the default option in the paid version?

Thats a good point. I have never used the free version of Macrium, so if the option is not available then most likely the free version does not support it. The paid version, at least Macrium for Workstation, does support it. Here is what the option looks like:

At least I know some of the lingo a little better and know what the options are. Thanks for posting, appreciate it.
