    Hi fellas,

In the modern age of instant gratification 2.0, time is more than just money. It's prestige. Hence, I present a short article bencharking Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx boot time performance on three laptops, T42, T60 and RD510, with both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

Did we break the 10-second barrier?

    Cheers,
    Mrk

P.S. I hope to have SSD results soon - and some more!

A hell of a lot better than mine with 125 MB/sec throughput. Great result for your oldest notebook and interesting article. Thanks.

9 seconds flat with my 16GB dual XEON 8 core machine here. With the ancient dual core AMD its around 12 seconds, both have 7200RPM hdd, my XEON machine has Samsung Spinpoint with 64mb cache, the other one has WD Velociraptor.
