lost settings password

    I just got my pc back after loaning it out and I had locked the settings with a password. The book I had it written down in has been destroyed. I can't get in to either reset the security settings or uninstall/re-install.
    Ess5 Windows XP any help would be appreciated.
    I have all my licence info just not that password. I've tried ll my usual variations to no avail.
