Long pause when starting ESS

ESS was hanging my PC when booting. I solved the problem by making it dependant on the Spooler service - hence it starts later and whatever causes the deadlock has completed so it now strats fine.

In theory this leaves a window of opportunity for infection.

 

If you want to simply delay the startup of ESS (or anything else) you could try this:

If you try it, use the latest Beta (link at the top of the page). It's stable. Restrict 'startup control' to those programs with a taskbar icon (such as ESS) - in my experience this gets the best results. Let me know by PM if you have any difficulties with it.
