    Dear Guys,

I tried to update the NOD32 Linux but it seems that it will take only the signature not the components. Maybe i did it wrong , so can you guys guide me on how to update in Linux Platform , i use Red Hat 9 .

And another thing, do we have to use both command to update ? "nod32umc" , "nod32upd"...so confusing....

Is it automatically update when i connect to the internet?

    Please advise ,

    Thank You

    Hi, Penny

I not to hot on Linux.

I believe NOD32 only supports email scanning on a Linux OS,.

You should try and use your Command Prompt to load the kernel's to update Linux. ie:- worker@Linux:~> rpm -Uvh <packet-name>[worker being your name]

Sorry I can not be of more help.

    I performed a RTFM task :)

To keep your NOD32LMS current the virus definition database needs to
be updated. Internet update of the virus definitions is provided by
nod32umc (update mirror creator module) and nod32upd (anti-virus
system update utility). Please refer to the manual pages nod32umc(
and nod32upd( to get detailed information. The NOD32LMS provides
You also with automatic internet update component
(/usr/sbin/nod32_update). This script performs automatic update of
the virus definitions by calling internally both the nod32umc and
nod32upd modules. Please, edit the script nod32_update in order to
set current Username and Password received from Your vendor as well as
other necessary information (refer to the script for details).

After proper setting of the script variables run nod32_update script
on a regular basis in order to trigger a new update attempt. One hour
    interval is recommended.

Tip: To perform an update (attempt) at 3AM, enter the following line
    into crontab (crontab -e):

    0 3 * * * /usr/sbin/nod32_update

Means in plain text, if you installed nod32lup from rpm or deb you just need to ediot script in /usr/sbin/nod32_update. Nod32lup is part of nod32lms or nod32fs

    Regards

Linux Server will update only the virus definition and some components (base) ,if we use windows based update through Linux server it will miss some components. So we have to update again .
