    Linux PCLOS & Beryl questions

My mobo is an ASUS A7N8X - VM/400 - UAY.

Onboard vid & aud. I believe these are the chipsets.

    Chipset
    North Bridge: NVIDIA nForce2 400
    South Bridge: NVIDIA nForce2 MCP

On my PCLinuxOS-2007 install the graphics seem fine. I'd like to try Beryl. I installed Beryl from synaptic.

Will my mobo work with Beryl? And witch Nvidia drivers from synaptic should I install? Or if Beryl won't work with my onboard graphics, is there any reason to install an Nvidia driver?

Oh if Beryl will work. Whats the path? I searched here & elsewhere. Can't find it on my install.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

There's no reason why not to install the nvidia drivers. You should go with legacy drivers for older cards.

Will Beryl run? You should check http://www.beryl-project.org/ for details about specific cards compatibilities.

You should find beryl under usr/bin/beryl-manager.

Beryl was already installed in PCLOS o_O

Install the dkms-nvidia_96xx driver package from Synaptic.

    FG - Installing now.

Now I have to find the Beryl services manager or something. I wish it was easy to find. Like in doze. Such a learning curve.

Wow I though default vid drivers were good. These are better.

Ok. Now where is the Beryl GUI/frontend? I can't find it.

    Thanks.
