    Hi @ Wilders

Could someone give me a few pointers please.

I want to transfer all of my LibreOffice files including mail Merge to Linux Mint. Libre office is already installed.

In Windows 10 there is an AppData/ Local folder with a LibreOffice folder in it.

Similarly there is an AppData/Roaming Folder with a Libre Office folder in it.

So my assumption is that if I transfer both AppData folders across to LinuxMint all should be OK?

If this is the case what are the locations in Linux Mint that I should copy these folders to?

Any help appreciated. in transferring LibreOffice.

    Thanks

    Terry

    Hi Terry,
Perhaps someone else can tell you more, but for what it's worth, I can tell you what I know.

I don't have a Windows system, nor Linux Mint, I use Kubuntu.
So I cannot check what is in which Windows folder, or Linux Mint directory.
Also, I have no experience with Mail Merge.

What I do know, is that the LibreOffice "user" folder contains all settings for LibreOffice.
If you copy your LibreOffice "user" folder from Windows to Linux Mint, LibreOffice will have all your settings.
In Kubuntu 22.04, the LibreOffice "user" directory is:
    ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/
    (/home/your_username/.config/libreoffice/4/user/)

    Edit
To see if you have the correct LibreOffice "user" folder,
my ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/ directory contains the following subdirectories and files:
    autocorr
    autotext
    backup
    basic
    config
    database
    extensions
    gallery
    pack
    psprint
    store
    uno_packages
    wordbook
    GraphicsRenderTests.log
    registrymodifications.xcu

    Hi Stupendous man

Put this Win 10 location: C:\Users\Terry\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user ( Roaming) into this Linux Mint Folder location: Linux: home > terry**** > .config > libreoffice > 4 > user.

This left the issue of Users\Terry\AppData\Local\LibreOffice. This folder is where I keep all matters MailMerge in essence templates for starting predefined Letter headings and Envelopes. Clicking on when of this brings up for example an A4 letter with address database fields in it. When this is booted and PRINT clicked it brings up a database of contacts from which you select those who you want to populate the address letter heading. This works well in Win 10

I did not know where to put this local folder, so I put it in the same linux mint folder i.e Users\>terry**** > .config > libreoffice > 4 > user (LibreOffice) When I click on any of the templates I get a message "The data source "contacts" was not found. The connection to the data source could not be established. Please check the connection settings. The database appears to be registered in Tools>Options>LibreOffice Base>Database as it is showing under registered databases.

So I cannot get it it to connect to the database. Any ideas?

    Thanks

    terry

    Hi Terry,

Good that importing the "users" directory worked.
However, importing your Mail Merge templates needs something else than what you tried, so it seems.

I don't know in which Linux Mint directory your Mail Merge templates need to be.
There may be an easy way to import Mail Merge templates, but I do not know how.

I've searched in LibreOffice's online help and elsewhere online, and I looked in the LibreOffice application.
The only thing that I could find, is LibreOffice>File>Templates>Manage Templates>Manage>Import. I have no idea if that can be used to import your Mail Merge templates.

I hope that someone else, someone who uses Mail Merge, can tell you how to import your Mail Merge templates.

    Hi @ Wilders

Thanks to everyone for their help. I finally got the issue resolved. Unfortunately I made a catastrophic error and have lost my Home Page. So my quest for learning continues.

    Hi Terry,
Good that finally you managed to import your LibreOffice Mail Merge templates into Linux Mint.
Could you tell us how you did it?

And oh! How very unfortunate that you made an error that made you lose your home directory. (I think that was what you meant: your home directory, not your home page?)
    What happened?
I hope you can rebuild using a backup.
