    I just upgraded my super slow laptop successfully. Pretty quick and painless process really.

    I haven't had a look under the hood or kicked the tyres yet but Cinnamon 21.1 seems to be running fine.

    mint 21.1 video playback is terrible. i have a 8 yr old dell desktop w/ intel i3 4150 cpu and video playback is choppy-audio is fine. i love mint but because of this i'm looking for another distro with better video playback. any reccomendations? or a way to fix mint? thank you for your help

    Your PC is a bit outdated now.
    What's the desktop environment in Mint? Cinnamon?
    Cinnamon is the most resource hungry desktop in the Mint's offerings.
    XFCE is much lighter and may provide a better video experience.

    Yes, performance(XFCE) over eyecandy(KDE). I also have oldie but goldie laptop, of course it cannot handle full hd youtube videos, but 720p videos works just fine.
    I also noticed, that 720p videos works a lot better with chrome(htop cpu time) compared to firefox. I'm using Manjaro XFCE.

    thanks for your replys yes, cinnamon i got an intel media driver update yesterday. even tho it was for 8th gen it helped mine quite a bit and playback is a lot better. i wish i had installed xfce but cinnamon is doing good. thanks again
