I've had a love-hate relationship with Cinnamon but with this release Cinnamon is butter smooth. The last iteration of Cinnamon I had nasty black artifacts that would pop up on my screen with everything twitching even after installing fglrx. They have improved so much, now you can install themes and applets with a click instead of manually. Everything is integrated into the cinnamon settings. I'm very happy with this. I'll still use Sunflower-fm instead of Nemo but even Nemo has some more gusto under the hood.

    Check it out.

    very nice indeed!

i am trying Cinnamon 64 bits.
after a reboot, the RAM usage is 315 megs and the CPU iddle between 0 and 1%. :thumb:

    and Skype works!
unlike in the 'buntus 13.04 and 13.10 release. :cautious:

the display manager renders fast and nice.
i don't think i even need to bother installing the NVIDIA drivers.

i removed it for the time being.

it is crash-happy at boot times.

i'm gonna wait for the final, because beside these booting issues, it' s pretty damn good.

    on another note...

Lefebvre mentioned that they will probably have their own release schedule eventually.

i think it's ill advised for them to wait for Ubuntu to release their new version every 6 months, ready/buggy or not. :cautious:

    Hello moontan,

I used to get crashes too, until I specify Grub menu boot option="systemd"

Try it, it works for me consistently.

    Bonne chance!

    No crashes here at all.
I've installed the MATE version, but quickly installed the XFCE4 desktop so I now run with XFCE.
