I am looking for a Live CD/DVD Linux Distro for testing hardware. I know someone who has a Windows Vista Laptop which has a possible hardware problem. He gets frequent BSOD's but cannot determine the cause of the BSOD's.

I gave him Puppy Linux and he says that it has been running OK for more than a day. However, he has not been doing anything significant with Puppy Linux other than having it loaded in Memory as a Live CD. It would be nice if I could give him a Linux Live CD/DVD Distro to test out his system.

    Thank you.

www.distrowatch.com is probably your best bet.

A wealth of info on just about any distro. Go explore and try what you think is the most suitable for your needs.

Actually, most distros have install media which are LiveCDs.

The top 100 is interesting, I only tested 10% so far. The next questions could be: What is the most comfortable, the one with the least bugs and/or the most secure?

I found a bug in latest Kubuntu.

My experience tells me they all have bugs, it's just the nature of the beast... The best and most trouble free for me has been Ubuntu by far.

More important to note is that KDE 4 is new - really new- and still in active development - read beta.
While it is stabilizing, it isn't considered stable.

That's interesting... I thought KDE 4.2.2 used by Kubuntu is stable?

It looks ok here, but you do see weird stuff happen at times.
Nothing data destroying or crashes note.
