I've written a tutorial showing how to fix the issue of unresponsive black screen after boot (on battery power) on Linux systems with AMD GPUs, including kernel update, power charger & power profile workaround, and graphics driver kernel module options. Take a look. https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/linux-amd-gpu-black-screen-boot.html Cheers, Mrk
Interesting. I've seen the black screen of death on my old Belnea notebook after I converted it from Vista to Trusty. It only happened occasionally and could be remedied by a re-boot. It wasn't always on boot, sometimes Vivaldi made it do it. I'd open Vivaldi and BlackSOD! Sometimes certain webpages would do it. I've never seen it on my Lenovo laptop.
