    Wow, thanks Tom. If im reading this right, this should be great performance boost for multi-core CPUs?

    You can get 1million IOPs out of current Linux kernels according to the figures on the presentation linked to in the article, which is enough to run alteast half a dozen SSD on SATA 6 or about 4 iSCSI devices.
    The latency improvements will be insignificant until you get to PCI/E or SAN device speeds.
