    Hi guys

Newbie here so please forgive me for any stupid Questions.

I have basically installed NOD32 v.2.5 as it was highly recommended to me after I gave crappy Norton the boot for being...well just rubbush frankly.

I have a couple of questions.

    1. What is the latest version version of virus signature database? I currently have 1.1793 (20061006) - is this right? I wan to be sure my update is working propoerly as I updated today but it still is the same database as yesterday - 1.1793 (20061006)

    2. Has the NOD32 got a firewall with the IMON element of the package? I currently have got ZoneAlarm firewall but would sack it off it NOD32 had a good one. I am not sure whether it has got one. I know it scans web pages etc as they load but dont know whether a firewall is somewhere in the package.

Cheers for taking the time to read this and apologies if I ma being thinck.

Hhhhmmmm I just checked the latest update at http://www.eset.com/support/updates.php and it says latest is 1.1794 (20061006).

This is a latet version than mine (1.1793) even though I have updated. Am I worrying too much?

    Cheers

Yeah I have got the trial version installed - i don't fancy dishing out money straight off for something that may not work too great onmy machine like i did with Norton.

I have got it set to choose automatically.

I will have a look at the thread.

    Thanks

As i'm not the most knowledgeable on Nod32 issues, Blackspear or one of the other Nod32 users here, i'm sure will jump in with more advice.

    Thanks for the posts chaps.

The set up thread is great. I have got everything set up right as the update section states except for the NU + PW bit as it is a trial version.

Are we saying that the trial version only updates to the date you install it as that would seem pointless?

    Thanks for the PM blackspear.

The event logs all say it has been successful but only update to 1.1793 (20061006) but the latest one is 1.1794 (20061006) so hooray!

If there is no need to update, then there is no need to update. I have seen dozens up updates come through on weekends.

    Cheers :D

What do you expect, each 1/16 hour an update? Why, if there is no necesarity. NOD32 is one of the AV's with most frequent updates.
    Look here: http://www.eset.com/support/updates.php

Edit: @Blackspear has been faster for two minutes :)
