Johnny Carson, late-night TV legend, dead at 79....... http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/01/23/obit.carson.ap/index.html Many a career was launched from his show. snowbound
Snowbound, that's sad news. I enjoyed Johnny's humour, his silliness, the gags, so-oo much! He had fun!! Johnny made fun of himself, made his guests look great in spite of themselves, threw jabs with the political honchos of 'the day', He went out of his way to give so many young and old people - comics, singers, actors, fiddlers, bird-callers, even Potato Chip Ladies , their chance in the spotlight. All the while managing to make the show look so easy, a party just for us. He seemed like a friend you could actually talk to, joke with, keeping everyone on the show and us - laughing!!! It's great to know that someone real and even caring, got to do what he wanted in life, without ever publicly demeaning himself or others. He hit his high note, leaving us anticipating ....leaving us with his best. Now leaving .... for another spotlight? Why not? He lived a rich full life, that's something to be grateful about- for him and for his fans. I hope his fans and his family celebrate a life that was definitely - lived!! Marja
He really was an entertainment icon. He help many many people get a start in show business. He was one of the few comedians that could truly laugh at himself.
