laptop to tv

    i've plugged my laptop into my lcd tv i have tv switched to vga and can see my desktop,mouse and open/close programs
    but when i try to play a video it can be seen on the laptop but not on the tv the wmp can be seen the seek bar is moving as it plays but no picture ?

    You may need a hdmi cable. Does your laptop support hdmi??

    no hdmi on laptop [hp compaq nx9010] has vga/svideo

    tv is kogan has hdmi/svideo/vga/blue green pink rca/yellow white red rca

    o_O?

    Was it the first or which? Ah - extend .... I'll take it was the opener.

    yes that was the key strange that i could see the desktop and everything else except the movie itself and now i can see it perfectly currently watching the mummy totde on a great big lcd tv as i type thanks again :D
