Laptop Keyboard Modification

    My colleague has a Dell laptop with a French keyboard, running Vista Home (French version). The HD is "dying" and need to be replaced.
    In order to install Win7 (English version) on the new HD, is it enough to apply letraset stickers on the keyboard "specific letters" to make it compatible with the standard one?
    He has been told that replacing the keyboard may be very expansive.
    (Laptop: Dell Inspiron 1501)
