How about a Kill button in the tray?
    Stops internet access instantly.
    Reset with user specified password.
    Really.

That seems more like a firewall feature.
I right-click my ZoneAlarm tray icon and select "Stop all Internet activity".
    The red padlock appears and
    everything is locked down.

I wouldn't want that feature for Prevx as Page42 said it's a firewall feature!

Some of us use the W 7 firewall. I haven't found a the kill switch yet.
Also, why say you wouldn't want a feature that you would not have to use or even have it showing. You want to prohibit others from having what you don't want?
Prevx 3 offers pretty much all around protection. If I observe something that I think is wrong it would be nice to kill the connection quickly.
This probably would be just as good as hot key function.
I don't remeber seeing that direct combo.

While this does seem to be more of a firewall feature, we are planning a possible feature which could function as a "lockdown mode" for software or network access.

More to come on this later as we get further into Prevx 4.0 but thanks for the suggestion! :)

    You're welcome.

As far as this being a firewall feature, please look at previous versions of DW. It came with a 'stop attack' switch. Earlier versions were not firewalls. Yet I don't remember hearing people complain about it being there. They had the option of using it or not.

    Hi Hugger

I'm not complaining, and I don't want to prohibit others from having what I don't want. I was just giving you my thoughts when I said it seems like a firewall feature. And I was sharing with you that I already have that feature. So it would be redundant for me. But I'm not crapping on your idea. I like reading suggestions. Whatever makes you happy, man. :)

Sorry if you thought it was aimed at you.
I enjoy reading what others are thinking too.

Right. And PrevxHelp even indicated that the devs are thinking about something just like what you suggested. So there you go. I will tell you this... the number of times I have needed to engage that ZAP internet lock over the years? Zero. It strikes me as an idea that is better in theory than in practicality. :)

Since Prevx relies on an internet connection to protect a PC properly, one presumably wouldn't want the equivalent of ZoneAlarm's panic button, which blocks all internet access.

I'd be surprised, though, if many malware programs can access the internet in a potentially harmful way without Prevx's protection algorithms cutting in to stop them. So, I wonder if a 'kill' feature would offer users significant additional protection.

If not, I'd rather keep the Prevx UI as simple as possible.

different from some opinions here I would like to see a feature like blocking processes from connecting outside.
