    XP Pro_SP3

    MS IntelliType Pro 6.2

    Keyboard is corded, not wireless.

Tried this keyboard on another computer with IntelliType software. No problem.

Reduced Device Manager window in size so it could stay open in the upper corner of my
monitor. Created a script that would popup a dialog box when the keyboard vanished from
    Device Manager.

Unplugging the keyboard from the USB port and plugging it back in always restores the
    keyboard in Device Manager.

With earlier versions of Windows I've resolved many driver and/or hardware problems
with a Registry hack. I've looked at the Keys and Values. Not sure if it would help.

Maybe I'm a fool, because I plan to replace this keyboard. It's too big and clumsy for
my hands. I'm concerned that this problem may not go away with a new keyboard.
I'd like to understand why this driver is dropping out before I buy another keyboard.

Have you tried using a different USB port, or updating your USB drivers?
