Windows 8.1 Keeps saying i need KB2919355, & fails to install, I even tried downloading it to desktop & failed: From windows updates today, I did see that KB29119442, needs to be installed before, KB2919355, so I looked at my update history & found I've had Windows update re-scan, & it finds I need an installed update, & fails to install it.
Sounds like it fails because its already installed. Whats the failed install error code? I suspect the fix is to hide that update from Windows update.
Fail code 80073712. This update if installed, will place a "search" magnifying icon next to the users picture, on the start page of windows 8.1. I do not have that near my picture. Tried Windows Update Troubleshooter: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-8 This fixed two things, unable to fix one, & cautioned about another (presume can't fix) <reboot> Retry KB2919355 "fail" I also read that this KB is very problematic, & that the re-release of this KB (updated KB2919355) was/is supposed to fix, the parts previously failed. So perhaps the original (reported in history) KB2919355 partially installed, so now windows updates wants to correct, by reinstalling the newest version, but fails with code 80073712, which is only partially fixed by, Fix It. I'm wondering if uninstalling the installed version of KB2919355, then reinstalling makes sense?
That is worth trying. I would create a restore point or backup first. Microsoft has updated this patch twice since the first leak and once since the official release. I have installed them all over the top without issue, but many are having problems with it.
Looked at: control panel > program features > view installed updates KB2919355 does not appear (so can't be removed) yet WU history shows it installed successfully, while current scan by WU wants to install it & fails: From Fixit WU: Note this pic. should have been in post #3
Rico, From an Admin Command Prompt can you run.... Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth Does it report Corruption?
You could try this... How do I reset Windows Update components? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
I too faced the same problem. What I did was though the update failed to install I chose update and restart option by right clicking start screen button. After restarting I freshly checked for updates and this time it installed successfully. Microsoft had released KB2919355 two times. For those who had already installed it they should again had to install but this time the download would be about 2.6 mb. You can see this info from softpedia: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Micr...ws-8-1-Update-KB2919355-Download-438125.shtml
Indeed, I could not install the second one either, because I had Network Location Awareness service disabled. I doubt, that that is your problem.
Hi Guys, Well this one can be put to bed. First no luck with Dism.exe, even did dism /?, nothing could make this work. Next sfc /scannow, found & fixed some errors, others not fixed. Next, WU said KB2919355 was successful on 4/8/14 that's a lie. To the rescue RSTRUI.exe, chose date prior to 4/8, actually March ? restored successfully. Run W.U found 8 updates including KB2919355, all went perfect. Now next to my smiling picture, I have the search icon. Many Thanks Rico
I would like to find an offline installer for the Windows 8.1 Update. Does anyone know if it's available somewhere?
Go here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42327 then download all files and install them in this sequence: KB2919355, KB2932046, KB2937592, KB2938439, and then KB2934018 (as described here: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/fl/windows-8-1-update-1.htm) .
