I had been using enod for a while and it's a great antivirus
software but it doesn't catch everything which no antivirus
solution does. Kaspersky Personal Pro 5 and Enod together
seem to work very well and kav caught a spam sending trojan
that created a fake svchost. No wonder I got bad returned
    spam.

Anyways it works well but I heard you have to disable AMON,
    do you?

    Enod huh? I guess you're referring to Eset's Nod32.

It's generally recommended that you only run one antivirus in real-time to avoid potential conflicts and so that you don't drain your resources.

If you want to run KAV in real-time, then you should disable AMON. As a matter of fact, IMON might interfere with KAV's Emailing scanning and DMON might interfere with KAV's Office Guard. So it might be best to stop Nod32 from loading at startup altogether (if this is possible).

My problem is that kaspersky doesn't work through firefox to
catch viruses/trojans that "haven't" been fully downloaded yet
but nod32 does. If it's does then I will uninstall nod32.

another thing to consider is that unlike NOD32, KAV cannot or will not scan archives in realtime.

Btw NOD32 also cannot scan archives in real-time while KAV does at High sensitivity.

NOD's IMON HTTP scanner will scan archives in real time and can stop
those types of downloads before they are downloaded to a PC.

    Example:
2/5/2005 8:57:02 AM IMON archive http://www.eicar.org/download/eicarcom2.zip Eicar test file connection terminated

avast! HE beta 4.6 (Web Shield) scans archive files via HTTP traffic in real time and stop those types of downloads before they are downloaded to a PC too.

One thing I like about the NOD HTTP scanner is that in addition to scanning
archives in real time it also uses their Advance Heuristics.

I know this, I've seen you mention to it in another threads but as far as I know avast! deliberately doesn't use heuristics in its engine so avast! might implements some special technique rather than using pure signature.
