I am confused over the different versions of Kaspersky Internet Security.

    Version 2006 is version 6.0
    Version 2007 is version 7.0
Version 2008 ... is there one?
    Version 2009 is version ?

    Version 2010 is version 9.0?

    Thanks in advance

    I'm pretty sure:
    2006 is 5.0
    2007 is 6.0
    2008 is 7.0
    2009 is 8.0
    2010 is 9.0

    Yep
This is correct. Most important is that the most recent one is v2010

Thanks! Wonder why version 8.0 is more commonly known as version 2009 :\

most of the forums members including myself wanted to keep the number system and dont use years but we lost out to the marketing department.

Yes, marketing went for the years option, but I personally think they slipped up when doing so. Their releases tend to be in the summer months; the first year they changed from the numbering system to the year notation should have been the year it was released, and not using the following year.

If they released these products in the autumn, using next year as the product version doesn't seem as bad as you're closer to that year. But in the summer in the middle of the year like now we have version 2010? Doesn't make sense, but that's marketing for you. ;)

I've just got used to it... they simply like to market it as "the security of the future, and it's released by us!" ;) :p

I wanted to say that as well. I really don't care what name it has as long as it keeps my machines safe
