I've been "allowed" to post a short summery to a detailed and balanced review IMHO of Kaspersky 6.0..............i chose the conclusion! ;)
The full review you can find here: http://ssta.over-blog.fr/article-10792223.html, i would encourage you to read the whole review, you never know you might learn something about security as well. :)

I will read this stuff when I have some more time, but I must say that KAV seems to have one of the most advanced HIPS, it really covers a lot of areas (I´m a HIPS freak). But there is also plenty of room for improvement, not just for KAV but for all HIPS. Too bad that KAV overall feels too heavy for me, perhaps an idea to make a standalone HIPS? :)

    this forum is biased!
kaspersky need to work on giving more detailed information for their pdm for the things it finds, that would be my request for kaspersky users.

    Thanks Don Pelotas,

I put a direct link to the test pages, to find it easier for those who are busy, or get lost ;) : http://ssta.over-blog.fr/article-10458365.html

I must say I wasn't sure if it had to be posted in Other Anti-Malware Software , or in the AV forum, because these tests are focused on the Proactive Defense module, mostly. But since this is primarily an AV...

    Cheers,

    nicM

    Thanks Don.
is the page 1 ment to have pictures?
because if it is then they are not showing.
i dont think there would be such a big gap in the text.
also page 24 doesnt even show.
also will kis7.0 be tested by the same place once its out?

In the "con" department: "very agressive sound alarm, kind of "slitting the throat of a pig" (when a malware is detected)"

Fills me with pleasure the Poesta Pig is still there. :D :thumb: :D :thumb: :D :thumb: Pro in my book.

Kasperskys is the best, but until they deal with the infamous pop-up issue, they will easily be, the most hated to. It just kills me, you have everything and you cant accomplish this one factor that angers folks. And no, 7 didnt do it. 7 is nice, but they failed in one area and Bitdefender is getting ready to show you how it can be done.;)

    Hi trjam,
Just for my information, can you explain me what fails in V 7.0, it's not released yet? 7.0.0.119 is still beta.

    Thanks

The constant popup issue. And I dont think you can really say it is in beta when it is getting to go public by their marketing department. "Ooops" But having said that, my polar bear friend, it is still the best, and still sets the benchmark for others to reach. I think that is a fair thought.

Seconded. The flaw in the plan is that no matter how comprehensive the PDM is, it's still left up to the user to make a decision in the end (ahh, to accept or deny?). And the bottom line is that the common PC user is ignorant. If it has to ask you what to do... then it's not doing it's job IMO. It should KNOW what to block, and what to allow. There should be no interuptions or questions posed to me on my end... just shut up and work.

If Kaspersky could find a way to accomplish this KIS would be the ultimate security solution IMO. I'd go back to them in a heartbeat even though I'm a very satisfied Nod32 user.

Would that be because you had AIC enabled? I don't have this component enabled, and have very few popups.
