I am currently using Kaspersky 5 & Mozilla Firefox.
Kav does not monitor the downloads or watch for malicious
content for firefox. I use Outpost to block activex/and other
nasties but I need more protection.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

As soon as anything is written to your hard drive, KAV will scan it. 5.0 does not scan archives in real time. It is my understanding that only Internet explorer is capable of executing scripts before they have been written to disk. That is why KAV has that script checker which blinks on and off in IE.
